Bywater & Marigny's Business Community.
Jazz spills out of clubs on Frenchmen Street. Artists and makers fill warehouses and storefronts from Claiborne Avenue to Royal Street and the river. Working-class roots run deep alongside some of the most creative, independent businesses in New Orleans. BYMBO is the professional voice for all of it — connecting the businesses that give this neighborhood its energy, promoting them to the visitors who come looking for something unique, and advocating for the kind of investment that keeps Bywater & Marigny thriving for the people who built it.

Fet Gede - Haitian Day of the Dead Festival
Sun · 5:00 PM · New Orleans Healing Center
The New Orleans Healing Center and La Source Ancienne Ounfo invite the public to the annual Day of the Dead and Fet Gede (Haitian Day of the Dead) celebration. For over four decades, this vibrant, FREE, community-centered event has offered a space to honor ancestors and celebrate life through deep-rooted cultural traditions. Held at the New Orleans Healing Center, the evening features beautifully crafted local artist altars, a lively art and craft market, food vendors, and a Haitian rum happy hour to kick off the festivities. Attendees are welcome to bring photos and remembrances of their own loved ones to place on the main stage community altar. The heart of the evening begins with a powerful, traditional Vodou ceremony to invoke the Gede spirits, followed by a closing procession to feed the dead, pass flames, and share multi-tradition prayers. Guests are highly encouraged to immerse themselves in the experience by wearing white with a purple headscarf, or combinations of purple and black. You are also welcome to bring traditional offerings for the spirits, such as rum, cigars, peppers, or flatbreads, as the community gathers to ensure the memories of those who have passed remain vibrant and alive.

...into the MAGICAL realm
Fri · 7:30 PM · Cafe Istanbul
cross the veil, and step ...into the MAGICAL realm! 🧿 This is not a dance show. this is a portal. For one unforgettable night, over 50 dancers from across the Gulf Coast gather in the heart of the Marigny to become the guardians of a realm you have only visited in dreams. Fae and forest spirits. Witches and warriors. Queens, alchemists, and keepers of ancient magic... Each dancer a character, each piece a spell, each shimmy a story pulled straight from folklore and fantasy. Expect candlelit lanterns and flowing cloaks, staffs and jewel-toned silks, and a troupe moving in white Saidi dresses like something freshly conjured. This is belly dance the way you have never seen it... theatrical, immersive, and alive with magic. Hosted by Karla Marie Shimmy Soul and Studio Shakti, featuring the Shimmy Shakti Troupe and guest dancers from all along the Gulf Coast, live at Cafe Istanbul. Leave the ordinary world at the door. cross the threshold. the realm is waiting. 💃💗

From Frenchmen to the Industrial Canal — this neighborhood built itself.

Who We Are
The Voice of the Neighborhood's Businesses.
BYMBO — the Bywater Marigny Business Organization — is a member-led nonprofit representing businesses of every kind across two of New Orleans' most culturally distinctive neighborhoods. We serve the clubs, galleries, restaurants, bars, studios, shops, makers, and service providers that give Bywater & Marigny their character — on every street, in every block, from Frenchmen to the Industrial Canal.
BYMBO exists to support businesses with the visibility, advocacy, and long-term investment they deserve — so the people who built this place can keep building it.
Our events bring together business owners, residents, and visitors across St Claude corridor neighborhoods. Show up, get connected, and be part of what's building here.

Flagship Initiative
St. Claude Initiative
St. Claude Avenue is BYMBO's flagship economic corridor initiative — a long-term effort to transform one of New Orleans' most culturally significant and most underinvested streets into a destination that works for businesses, residents, and the visitors who come to this neighborhood for experiences they can't find anywhere else.
What It Is
Running through the heart of Bywater & Marigny, St. Claude Avenue connects over seven New Orleans neighborhood organizations and anchors the economic life of the corridor. The St. Claude Initiative is a coordinated, community-led effort to address safety, infrastructure, lighting, public realm, and economic investment along the avenue.
Master Plan
We are building a community-led Master Plan for St. Claude in collaboration with neighborhood associations, universities, city agencies, and LADOTD — addressing safety, infrastructure, lighting, tree canopy, bike lanes, and cultural identity in a single unified roadmap for the corridor.
Economic Development District
BYMBO is pursuing establishment of the Bywater Marigny Development District — a voter-approved special district that would create a dedicated, sustainable funding source to implement the Master Plan, hire staff, and execute long-term improvements.
Year-Round
Additional Initiatives
BYMBO is active year-round across the full neighborhood — building the kind of place visitors return to and businesses grow in.
Neighborhood Clean Up
Every third Saturday, BYMBO volunteers clean up streets across Bywater & Marigny starting at Pepp's Pub. Want to get involved? Take a look at our events calendar for more information.
Monthly General Meetings
Our 2nd-Monday meetings are open to all businesses and community members across Bywater & Marigny. Come hear what's in the works, meet your neighbors, and have a say in what's next.
Light Up St. Claude 2027
SPARK lit the match in January 2026. Coming back February 2027 — bigger: more blocks, more installations, more community, more reasons to show up after dark on one of New Orleans' most vibrant corridors.
